Product Review

Unrelieable

by   jls1967 ,   Dec 11, 2007

Pros:  Great picture, 2 HDMI ports, Great Sound, easy to set up and affordable.

Cons:  This units tear up too easily and are costly to repair.

The Bottom Line:  Unless you like rolling the dice that you will get a good one, I would stay away from this TV.

Overall Rating: 2/5 stars

Author's Review

I purchased this set in July 06 and had it approx. 15 month's when the picture went out on it. Up until that point, I was very satisfied with the set. When I took the set to an authorized Samsung repair service center and the repairman was not surprised to see that it was another Slimfit by Samsung. He apparently sees a lot of these units. He held on to the TV for approx.. 7 weeks and replaced several parts and continued to have problems fixing it. It required a new tube as well as other parts to repair it. Oh...and he had problems getting one of the parts from Samsung and had to go through a 3rd party. When he told me it required a new tube, I told him to toss it away. He concurred that would probably be the best idea. Samsung was no help at all with repairing the unit since it was just outside the warranty period regardless of the fact that they know that many of these units have defects from the start. I emailed Samsung about the problem when it first occurred and got little response. I then emailed them after the problems were finally pinpointed and I have yet to hear from them. According to the repairman, the Samsung techs even hate this TV.
