Cons:
Poorly designed, terribly frustrating, audio options. Impossible to get the total benefit of HDMI.
The Bottom Line:
This product is fine if you don't require dolby digital 5.1 or dts surround sound. A poorly thought out product.

The HDMI capabilities have been misrepresented. Here's the problem: If you DON'T use HDMI, you don't get the "upconverting" you need for High Def TVs (the upconvert lets you watch standard DVDs in near high-def). But if you DO use HDMI, you must set up the DVD-R135 to send the audio signal in what is called "PCM" format. BUT, PCM will not produce the multi-channel sound (like, Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS) - you can't get the true surround sound that you want when watching a DVD on your new HDTV. If you set the audio format to "BITSTREAM" (which is what carries the multi-channel signal) you get NO sound at all from your hdtv and you get an insanely annoying message "HDMI audio not supported" over and over. To get the really cool sound, you MUST use the bitstream format ... which MUST be sent to a stereo receiver or home theatre system via a separate digital cable (either optical or coaxial) ... SO, if you want a good Picture AND good sound, you're stuck with the "HDMI audio not supported" message constantly popping up, you have to use an EXTRA cable which defeats one of the purposes of HDMI, and you can't opt to listen to just the TV - because you get NO sound at all. (Its also pretty sad that my DVD player and my new HDTV are BOTH made by Samsung)
