Great Budget Color Laser Printer

I was upgrading my home office and have always wanted a laser printer. In my research I came across the Samsung CLP300. I though "wow I can get a color laser printer for under $200?" I was hesitant because I know that in most cases you get what you pay for and the low price made me a bit suspicious. After researching other printers there were no others that stood out in this price range so I decided to take a chance.

In my search for the best price I came across this little beauty on eBay refurbished for $89. I'm usually a little leery of refurbed products, but can't think of a time when I ever had a bad experience with one. Anyway, I bought the thing figuring that if it turns out to be crap I'd only be out $89.

I got the printer in and everything worked properly. I had no problem getting it to work on Vista. The print outs are very sharp when compared to my old inkjet. The prints come out at a moderate speed, but way faster than my inkjet. The design is compact and does not take a huge amount of desk space when compared to other color laser models. It does have a "hot" smell to it when it prints. I'm not sure if that's a normal thing or if my refurb has some leftover problems. Overall I'm satisfied with this thing and at the price I paid for a refurb it was definitely worth trying out.

Final Thoughts
Good printer especially if upgrading from an inkjet. The speed could be a bit faster but when compared to my old inkjet it's blazing. This is a good compact printer for crisp text graphics. The unique compact toner design makes replacements competitive with some inkjets without the drawbacks of a short shelf life and low yield. Great color laser printer for home use and maybe a small business.
