Author's Review
I bought this phone last year because I liked the dual fold design and the QWERTY keyboard. I use email a lot, and the keypad is much easier to use than a standard phone keypad.
As a phone, it has a good battery life, and strong range. I can't remember anyone saying he or she couldn't hear me. I seem to get coverage in most places, although that's a function more of the carrier than the phone itself. Like most modern cell phones, it has a camera with flash and an SD slot to store additional photos and tunes.
I haven't really used the phone for playing music. My iPod has a much better way to manage the songs.
Now, what I don't like about my phone are that it's hard to find the numeric keys on the keypad and that the screen is smaller than I would like. Samsung has remedied the problem with the keyboard by redesigning the keys on newer models. SCH-u740 phones made this year now have white portions on the numeric keys.
I'm a little surprised by the phone's durability. Despite its having a dual hinge, that hinge is much more durable than some single flip phones I have owned. There's no sign of weakening after a year and a half.
The screen's size is too small for looking at photos and for using the navigation feature. I really wouldn't have cared as much about the size of the screen, except that I got a new nephew late last year, and I like to show his picture off. A model with a two-inch screen would show him off more.
On more practical note, the small screen is bad for the VZ Navigator feature, which is basically a GPS navigation system built-in. It's very difficult to see the screen, so when I'm in a new place and want to find something, I ignore the map, and simply listen to the voice navigation.
