Perfect Set for my needs
Pros:
Excellent picture quality; Good array of inputs; Gorgeous design

There is SLIGHT ghosting visible at times, but not much of a deterrent.
The Bottom Line:
After researching sets for literally months, I'm very happy with the purchase of the Samsung LN-S5296D. Overall, it suits my needs perfectly.

I've been searching on a set for several months and I finally decided on the Samsung LN-S5296D after viewing a friend's 46 inch version (LN-S4695D), but I needed over 50 inches. The picture quality is absolutely astounding, particularly AFTER you tweak the settings. As is out of the box, the default settings are WAY off as far as I'm concerned. I'm talking about adjusting the contrast, brightness, sharpness and so on to get an optimal picture.
I have both a blu ray play (PS3) and HD-DVD player (Xbox 360 add on via VGA input), and I'm equally impressed with both formats. My "look how cool my tv is" movie on HD-DVD is The Hulk, and Ice Age 2 on blu ray, with the slight advantage going to the later. Either way, both really shows what this set can do!
Another reason I like this set is that it supports full 1920x1080x60hz thru the VGA port, which means my Xbox 360 games look fantastic! Be advised that if you play Xbox 1 games while connected VGA they won't play full screen, but 360 games running in 1080p like NBA Street Homecourt are a sight to behold. PS3 games via HDMI are even more impressive. Ridge Racer 7 running in full 1080p is TOP NOTCH graphics, and the game I show when I display my set to friends and family. Considering that RR7 is a first generation launch title for the PS3, I shutter to think what developers will be capable of in the months and years to come!
I came close to getting the Sharp LC-52D62U, as it does cost less and has a brilliant picture, but it doesn't have the VGA port and sleek look and full of the Samsung. I'm a very happy camper!
