Good System for the Surround Sound Beginner!

If you are looking for a highly technical review, this is not it! I did not know anything about surround sound systems before purchasing the Samsung HT-X40 Complete Home Theater System except that I wanted one. I am quite pleased with this purchase. The sound is amazing (800 watts). I didn't know until I got it out of the box that the system includes a DVD player (I guess that is what is meant by complete). I was also pleasantly surprised to discover that I could plug my iPod into the system.

The actual system is cosmetically attractive. The pieces are all a simple and chic design that go well with most decors. If one knows what they are doing, the system can be rewired so that the speakers can go exactly where you would like. Also, I have done some research into wireless speaker kits and found that the Samsung HT-X40 is compatible with many. Finally, the remote can be programmed to work with most TVs, so you will not have to juggle two remotes. (Now your DVD player, remote, and sound system will all match!)

My only complaint is that the system is not very user friendly. Since most products like this are not geared towards simplicity of use, this shouldn't be a surprise. The remote is a bit intimidating and the menu is far from practical.
