great player and great price

I purchased this DVD player on 02/05/2007

Easy setup with RCA cables.
Plays everything. I played a DVD+R that I had burned and I also tested the DivX avi files. I burned 4 avi files on a DVD and it played them without any problems. The avi movie files were listed on a menu to choose from. The image was great and so was the sound. Sorry I don't have a HD TV so I couldn't test it's upconversion cababilities (720,1080).

Great features and quality for the price $88 CAD

Note: The sales rep, where I purchased it, told me this player would play ver 5 of divx files, as per manual, and told me they may not play ver 6, current latest release. I called samsung and they could only quote their manual and didn't know if it would play ver 6. Personally I think the sales rep is wrong and this player will not have any problems playing ver 6 divx or any other future versions. I'm waiting for a response and feedback from divx.com about this question. Samsung support is very good like I've already stated but they should have been able to answer this "technology" question and not just simply quote their manual specs. When I inquired about this technology and specs with other players like toshiba, LG, Sony..etc. Their staff also had difficulty answering question about this technology and their newest player releases.

Another feature not tested yet. Sorry I don't know if it plays dual layer DVDs yet. I haven't tried one and I haven't looked it up in the manual. I wanted to get this review out asp. Easy, all on web, call/email them or any other brand, they give quick answers. Calling is of course faster.

So great image and sound. No problems playing everything I've thrown at it so far. Great deal for the price with all the newest features, quality, and HD ready with all the output connections.

Buy with confidence! I put in many hours of research (reviews, features,quality, and price) and chose this one. Remember that most stores will give you 10,15,30 days to set it up and test it, if your not satisfied you can bring it back. Check with your store policy. 1 year warranty. I extended mine to 3 years for $25 CAD. Good luck.
