Not recommended for doors leading outside

Safety First doorknob covers may work very well for your child. I purchased these when my toddler started opening the doors. These may work for most children but they did not work for mine. They are made of plastic and snap together around the doorknob and you have to squeeze the buttons so that they grip the doorknob in order to open it. They do keep some adults from opening the doors too. The problem with these was that they lasted about 15 minutes before my son figured out that he could hit them with a toy and they would come apart. I would not rely on these especially if you are considering purchasing them to keep your child from walking outside. Once my son figured out how to detach them, we wrapped a piece of duct tape around them so he could not smash them apart. This actually worked quite well. But they would never work unless we did that. Now we just replace the duct tape every so often. If you did purchase these and your child can smash them apart, try the duct tape. They do work pretty well for the money as long as your child cannot figure out that they come apart so easily.
