Author's Review
While I was pregnant I started on my quest for the perfect odorless diaper pail. I looked at many discount baby stores, discount stores, and even researched online hoping to find the very best.
Of course I came across the Diaper Genie, who wouldn't. Comparing the other diaper pails out there, the price seemed comparable, but when you consider having the added expense of purchasing the Diaper Genie bags, it wasn't really worth it. Plus, knowing that I was having a boy, I didn't really care to have the "pretty pink" coloring displayed. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with pink, it is just a preference on my part.
When I came across the Safety 1st Diaper Pail, I almost wet my pants, literally. More so because I was pregnant and had to go every five minutes anyway, rather than me finding the diaper pail that I thought would be best, but nonetheless, I almost wet myself.
After returning from the bathroom, I did some more comparison shopping and realized that I liked the Safety 1st the best. It hides odors and I realized later that I could also use it as a regular garbage can for the baby's bedroom, an added plus.
While it doesn't twist the bag after each diaper is placed inside, it still does hide the odor from the room, something that you can't get from just twisting a garbage bag, believe me. My baby's bedroom is upstairs and mine downstairs and it is inevitable that many diaper changing sessions are downstairs. I have kept those dirty diapers in a strong garbage bag and twist, and it doesn't keep the odors sealed as well as the diaper pail.
The pail is easy to put together, take apart, dispose of the diapers; everything a mother that will change about 5,000 diapers in her child's life could dream of.
