What is so great about this product?
Well let me count the ways, I am not the type of person to drop $120 on a stroller/jogger without finding out what the options and best quality for my dollar is.
When I started shopping for a stroller, it had to have specific advantages.
I found out while I was pregnant that my daughter would need multiple surgeries. Spending a lot of time around hospitals, I needed something that would be comfortable for everyone. I also know that some products break down, and not knowing strollers, I wanted one with the longest warranty for the lowest price.
I test drove a few...Graco...Evenflo...and InSTEP with a locked wheel. I liked the "lots of space" feel of the InSTEP but my friend had two kids and that is near impossible to push a straight wheel with two kids onboard. So, swivel wheel here I come...It was either going to be InSTEP or JEEP, and JEEP was more expensive, and the warranty was about the same if a little less coverage. I am satisfied with my choice and here is why...
1. The swivel wheel, allows for better maneuverability on or off the road. You can still lock the wheel down (so that it is straight), but I haven't found a reason to do this yet.
2. The seat does recline to a full down/flat position. Which is great for sleeping babies/toddlers.
3. The canopy does provide moderate sun shade. When the seat is in the full down position, sun shading is at its best. Moderate to little sun shade is provided when seat is in full upright position. Also, you can't fold the jogger up if the seat is in the full upright position.
4. The tray on the front of the jogger for the child has a lip to keep toys or snacks from rolling off and a cup holder that holds sippy cups well.
5. Comfort for the child is spectacular. I would relate it to the ride of a buggy. I looked and could not find shocks or springs, but the way the jogger rides puts my daughter to sleep every time.
6. The Safari TT is noted to be able to handle up to 50 lbs of overall weight (to include child and packages).
7. Has a great oversized compartment for diaper bags or what you need to bring for a good walk. Trust me, I have definitely tested this feature. I have been able to stuff a small backpack, purse, soft sided cooler and a jacket in the compartment at one time.
8. Just unhook the latch, flip and it will lock open and GO! At times, I have been able to open this jogger up with my daughter in the other arm!
9. For the price, you won't be able to find another jogger that offers the swivel wheel. Great for mall trips, you can stow your packages underneath, and it even comes with a cup holder up top for mom or dad!
What isn't the best about this product?
There are a few points that I would change if I was the one manufacturing this product.
1. Size, when folded, it is pretty bulky. You have to take the wheels off if you want to fit it in the back seat safely. If you don't have an SUV, this might not be the one for you.
2. With luxury of the swivel wheel comes the size and the weight. It might be the size that throws me off, but carrying this bad boy around isn't and easy task. There isn't any handle of any sort, I have pinched my fingers a couple of times.
3. Folding latch does not stay shut all the time; this can be a real hassle if you are trying to get going in a hurry.
4. Overall length when in use can be cumbersome at times. Hard to get into small elevators, or between some racks in stores. I realize this may not be the use everyone intended it for, but lets face it...How many strollers are you going to buy?
7. Cup holders, where they are nice, don't expect to go "jogging" with something in the cup holder. It won't stay there long. On a smooth walking surface, I have found that travel mugs or water bottles work the best.
7. The swivel wheel allows for ease when using the jogger as a universal stroller. I have tried running with this stroller and did not find it very satisfactory. Not due to the wheel being locked or roaming free. But simply the bulk of the stroller and a true running stride do not allow you to push from behind the jogger. If jogging, I found it slightly more comfortable, but I was always worried about my stride/feet bumping the jogger.
Overall product review
Between the good and the bad, I still think this stroller out does its competition. I have owned mine for 2 years and would do it all over again if I had to. You can get many products to make this stroller/jogger more useful like a rain cover or but netting. There is also a warranty for 5 years on the frame. When I told my friend I wanted to get a jogger because it looked like it had more room for the child, she told me one thing I will never forget...
