Ah, Espresso

by   walt_ ,  Sep 7, 2000
Pros: no compromise, "this is it" cup of mocha...
Cons: kitchen space, drainage, water supply, 220V, hernias trying to move it in
Review: I remember when I was little, and I used to eagerly crowd the breakfast table next to mom or dad, and watch them drink that mysterious steaming black brew. It had such a wonderful aroma, and I suppose it's every child's dream to emulate the...

A fantastic value

by   EricSan ,  Sep 10, 2000
Pros: Easy to use, makes great espresso, relatively inexpensive, very reliable, good design
Cons: Single heater, inadequate frother, no cup warmer
Review: Making a good cup of espresso is delicate. You have to start with good coffee properly roasted, of course.
Grind the coffee at the last minute, in a burr grinder (mills heat the coffee and ruin the aroma, and produce an irregular grind unsuitable...

Money WELL SPENT

by   a66cobra1 ,  Feb 2, 2008
Pros: Easy to use, perfect espresso, perfect steam
Cons: None, not one.
Review: The Via Venezia machine is a welcome to have in our home. It makes a perfect espresso each and every time and is fast. Works easily and makes either one or two identical shots of espresso in a matter of under a minute. DO NOT BUY ANOTHER MACHINE, ...

Perfect Expresso

by   michael1102 ,  Apr 4, 2009
Pros: Consistently brews excellent expresso.
Cons: Heavy, steam wand could be a little longer.
Review: In the past 15 years we have owned a DeLonghi, Krups and Saeco.  By far, the Saeco Via Venezia has been the best for the money.  We bought it from a former Starbucks manager who won it in a contest.  It is very user friendly and ...

My favorite appliance

by   nbsmith ,  Aug 30, 2000
Pros: great coffee, convenient, money saver
Cons: steamer drips when in coffee mode
Review: After being exposed to the wonder of a fully automatic espresso machine, I knew that I had to have one. Several years later I purchased the Saeco Via Venizia from the US distributor.
The machine has performed well for us for 2 years. If I had a...

My Machine Sux

by   sgt_cater ,  May 26, 2009
Pros: Looks fancy on the counter
Cons: Does not work well at all and over priced for its performance.
Review: I purchase one of these espresso machines from Starbucks several weeks ago and have had nothing but trouble with it. I tried using Starbucks Espresso grind and their PODS. I have used it more than a dozen times with each grind and still it will not run ...

IMO - only looks good! Very Poor Design..

by   arlington74 ,  Jul 4, 2008
Pros: Looks good on the countertop....
Cons: Not user friendly. Poor engineering for sure!
The Bottom Line: Buy a machine with the water reservoir on the back. This machine discourages me from actually using it! Too time consuming..
Review: Several years ago, I had a DeLonghi espresso machine. I, like many others, got sick of paying $4+ for take-out cappucino. The machine was about $150, mostly plastic, but worked well. It had separate 1 and 2-cup filters and a tamper. It didn't look as ...
