The iHome is a very good system that plays any size iPod on it. This has changed my way of falling asleep at night.
Previously, I would put my iPod on its sleep setting, put the earbuds in my ear, and listen until I fell asleep. Ever fall asleep with earbuds in? Very uncomfortable. When I woke up, it was anybody's guess where my iPod would be. On the floor, under me, between my headboard and the bed. My iPod got scratched up and sometimes fell in hard-to-reach places.
I eventually got fed up with this, and then fell asleep to the TV. My TV doesn't have a sleep timer, and I would wake up at 8 in the morning to random shows and I would incorporate infomercials into my dreams.
I got the iHome for my birthday and set it up around Christmastime.
It is very cool. First off, it holds me iPod for me and it charges it at the same time, so when I fall asleep listening to the sweet sounds of Toni Braxton or Eminem, it keeps it in one place and charges it incase I'm leaving the house with it.
The speakers are excellent, and I normally listen to it at around "2." I once took it to work, which was very noisy, and I listened to it on "40." Impressive range, and at that volume, it was still clear. You know how some radios and CD players get fuzzy when you raise the volume? No such problem here.
The display is analog with very easy to read digital numbers. A cool feature that it has is a dimmer on the display. There are about 10 different "lightness" options, with the brightest one able to light up a room, to the darkest one emitting any light. I use it on a dark setting because I don't want the blue light to shine on me as I'm trying to sleep, but I like it light enough to see the time if I wake up in the middle of the night to pee.
One complaint is about the buttons on the keypad. There are a lot of good ones - iPod, radio, play, off, ya know, the basic ones. However, I want - and I think later versions will have - fast forward and rewind (and next song, last song) buttons.
There are also 2 alarms here, one that is set up to the radio, and one set up to the iPod. If your iPod isn't in the holder, a loud beeping sound wakes you up. However, if your iPod is plugged in, it tries to wake you up with it at the same volume you fell asleep to. Everyone who has struggled to wake up in the morning knows it's very tough to fall asleep to blaring music and to wake up to soft music.
Overall, I'm very happy with the iHome, and it really has changed the way I listen to music. Recommended to all.
