This magazine is propaganda plain and simple. I have a B.A. in Russian from Middlebury College in Vermont (1976) and have traveled extensively throughout the Russian Federation (former U.S.S.R.).

I can tell you first hand that this magazine promotes Russia and her people as "as happy as Americans". This is false. Russia and her people have always been oppressed and living in poverty. The reason this magazine is so very expensive is because most of the pictures it contains of Russian faces and places are actually pictures from elsewhere in Eastern Europe which have been purchased or photographers sent to these places.

The truth about this horrible magazine is that when it is purchased money is given to help a few hundred people in Russia control, exploit and abuse millions of people. If you love Russia or Russian culture or would love to learn about these people, please do not buy this magazine.

If you want to learn about Russia, her people or culture please call your nearest university and find out if they have a Russian or Slavic languages dept. Here you will find people who are fluent in Russian , have traveled all over Russia and can introduce you to Russian Americans.

If your English grammar is well enough you can tutor our thousands of new Russian Americans in English and they will be more than happy to tell you the truth about Russia, which this magazine does not tell.
