POS Shredder won't turn OFF!!!
Pros:
Looks nice.
Cross cuts.
Good size basket.
Shreds CD's, DVD's, and CC's.
Cons:
LOUD
Defective unit.
Too $$$.
Shredded pieces could be smaller.
The Bottom Line:
Don't buy it. Get something a bit more expensive, or get a $20 unit. It's not worth the price, honestly.

I got my shredder from Office Max. It was quite pricey, IMHO, at $69. I got it home, and was instantly in love with the way it looked. You could get it in black or white.
This being said, now a month or two has passed and the stupid thing won't turn OFF. Once the shred cycle starts, it won't stop unless you push the ?forward? button (They're only labelled w/ arrows, so who knows WHICH direction it's going)
I've tried shredding CD's and DVD's, and also Credit cards which it performed at great speed. If you read the manual, it states, "Do not shred more than 5 CD/DVD disks to ensure the blade remains sharpened."
For those of you that are like, "Ehh he just knocked the junk out of this unit, and it's just broken from misuse." I assure you that this is not the case. I have shredded, at max, 7 pieces of paper (less than the 10), and only did it once b/c I didn't like the sound it made... I'm the type of person that if I hear the machine working hard, I reduce it's load.
And also for those of you that think, "Oh well he must have shredded too many DVD's, etc.!" No again. I, at max, shredded 3 CD's in one sitting, and I don't chop them up much, either, because I don't like making junk CD/DVDs, so I don't have much need to shred them.
I honestly think the problem has to do with the construction of the machine. If you see in some reviews, the teeth that grind the materials have something in the middle. I honestly think this piece in the middle is what's causing the problem because even after shredding papers one at a time, when I pick the lid up every piece of paper is bulked up in the shred portion of the machine.
This all being said, if it worked like it was suppose to, it'd be great. It looks nice, and functions like it's suppose to (cross shredding, etc), but I wish I would have either went with another model, because having to push this button is a pain in the rear, and if you do it when the lights are off you can see sparks internally when it cuts power to the motor. NOT GOOD.
All this being said, I would LOVE to get another model/new one, but I don't have the receipt (dumb on my part, but I wanted to try out the new shredder!!!), and Royal REQUIRES you to ship it BACK to them for repairs on YOUR dime!
