Very Steamed!!!

This Rowenta does iron like a dream and produces tons of steam--for only 3 months. I purchased this iron on January 27, 2009 and I had to replace it today, April 26, 2009! 

I purchased this iron because I do love Rowenta irons. They iron out even the most stubborn wrinkles and creases. The Rowenta irons produce more steam than any other iron I have ever used. I have used the following brands of irons: Black & Decker, General Electric, Sunbeam, Proctor Silex, and Euro-Pro Shark. I have been using only Rowenta irons for the past ten years.

I have been sewing for over 40 years. On occasion, I sew for other people and since I sew and iron almost every day of the year, this means I need a dependable iron. When I replaced my last Rowenta iron in January, I would have bought the same model except that it was no longer available. I searched the Internet for the Rowenta iron I would purchase to replace my old iron with and after reading several reviews, some that are on this website, I thought that the DX8800 would be a perfect choice.

A couple of days ago, my iron started leaking, especially around the handle of the iron. I have never had a iron do this. They have leaked all over my ironing board and clothes, but not on the handle. Yesterday it started spitting and making horrible noises. I looked at a couple of websites that had reviews regarding this Rowenta iron and several other women have had the same problem with this model only. One review I read said that their iron caught on fire! I decided it was in my best interest to stop using this iron and replace it immediately. I purchased a new Rowenta iron today, a different model from this one, and I will write a review on it after I have used it a few months.

I made a huge mistake when purchasing this Rowenta model. The biggest mistake I made was paying $89.99 for an iron that lasted only 3 months!
