Great While It Lasted: 1 year

by   norowentafan ,  Dec 2, 2006
Pros: A great iron as long as it lasts.
Cons: It doesn't last long.
Review: This iron is a dream machine for anyone willing to replace it every year. Our iron arrived with no warranty and no instructions in the box (who needs a manual to operate an iron, right?). It lived up to all the rave reviews repeated here until it died ...

Rowenta Steam Generator $200 iron

by   jafferd1 ,  Sep 25, 2003
Pros: The steam generator is great for bulk ironing.
Cons: Rowenta's disinterest in repair quality and service from their authorized repair centers are deal breakers.
The Bottom Line: An investment in an iron that is this high should have quality service centers and customer support from the company (Rowenta). Service is a major deal breaker.
Review: I purchased a Rowenta steam generator iron about four years ago for $200. It is the one with the container for 1/2 gal of water. I do a lot of ironing at one time, though not very often. The iron is used about once a month. I love the iron. I can ...

Huge Disappointment

by   citadelmom ,  Jun 11, 2003
Pros: Good steam while it worked
Cons: Durability - lasted only 6 months
The Bottom Line: Stay away from this company! The product is poorly constructed and very expensive.
Review: This was my second Rowenta iron. My first on worked for about a year and then the control mechanism ...

WARNING - Dont buy Rowenta!!!

by   mikeny ,  May 9, 2002
Pros: -When it worked, it heated up quickly, strong steam -Adding water was very easy
Cons: -Unreliable -Poor warranty policy -Very expensive
The Bottom Line: Customer satisfaction is not there priority, if your fortunate you end up enjoying an over priced iron. If you need service, your on your own (insult for a $100 iron).
Review: Im trying not to sound as if I have anything personal against Rowenta. But after spending $100 for a top of the line "iron", I needed to share my experience. Like most others I was drawn by the name and I figured an iron costing so much must be well...

heavy work horse

by   motomiker ,  May 7, 2002
Pros: powerful steam, good heat control
Cons: heavy, expensive
The Bottom Line: A strong performer. good for near industrial use. heavy and somewhat homely.
Review: My wife has a small quilting business. This requires a serious iron for pressing of mass quantities of of fabric in various stages of assembly.

Ten years ago I bought my wife a Professional Rowenta iron. it was very expensive at the time...

a major disappointment...

by   jackeeno ,  Sep 6, 2001
Pros: Safety features (auto shut off when not being used)
Cons: Constant build-up on sole plate; no master off switch; long term durability suspect
The Bottom Line: For the price charged, you are better off buying a number of cheaper irons which will probably work just as well
Review: Bought this iron a few years ago from a shopping channel at a price I would not normally pay--From the start, there has always been a constant buildup on the stainless steel sole plate which makes ironing difficult if not impossible --this has required...

Hot Under The Collar

by   newtownbeans ,  Aug 5, 2001
Pros: Worked fairly well during the first 2 yrs.
Cons: Did NOT work after 2 years. Could not be fixed. Company said too bad!
The Bottom Line: Don't buy one!! Buy 3 name-brand cheaper irons for the same price as a Rowenta. You'll probably be ironing 10 years longer for the same cost.
Review: I bought the Rowenta Professional iron for my wife about 2 years ago and she used it with no great accolades about the way it ironed. It worked about as well as any other iron she ever owned, but in the case of most of the other cheaper irons, they...

Beat using my old B&D

by   hockey0275 ,  Apr 20, 2001
Pros: very good steam output, smooth glide sole plate, quick warm-up
Cons: none
The Bottom Line: Go ahead and buy it, you'll be glad you did, I am.
Review: I purchased this iron after suffering through the death of my B&D iron, which by the way leaked after only two months.
I looked and looked for a new iron, and all the cheaper one that I saw seemed just that, cheap, the sprayer pumps on the unit...

Disappointing over time

by   shf914 ,  Apr 12, 2001
Pros: Powerful burst of steam, narrow "point" for getting into those tight spots.
Cons: Durability, Water reservoir difficult to fill, controls "sticky"
The Bottom Line: I would recommend it to someone who perhaps has minimal ironing to do or someone who needs a very powerful iron that is willing to replace it frequently.
Review: I received my Rowenta Professional as a gift from my mother. She got it for me after my then 7 year old son watching her iron with hers said "WOW! My mom should get one of those!!"

As my iron was dead, I was thrilled to have it. I was...

Almost makes ironing enjoyable

by   cmacdonn ,  Oct 7, 2000
Pros: Good steam, ease of use
Cons: None
Review: Why did I wait 40 years to get one? The price had always deterrred me, but this iron is worth every $. I always thought an iron was an iron until I used my daughter-in-law's Rowenta. Then I knew I must have one. My ironing goes faster & my...
