Create a Classic Look

I love to collect anything from vintage vases, to cut-glass perfume bottles and old linens and Romantic Homes gives plenty of help in how to create a classic look using your antique shop finds. For example, in the Premier Issue, there is an article about Interior Designer Linda Brown's Illinois home that showcases her collection of garden related items; botanical prints, vintage watering cans and blue and white china (my favorite).

The photographs show several rooms where Linda has created "cozy vignettes" that are inviting and use attention to detail to achieve a personal style. She has created a grandchildren's room where antique furnishings like a brass and iron bed, a carved oak nightstand covered in lace and displaying a child sized tea service compliments a collection of straw hats that her grandchildren can play dressup with.

All the rooms show how to group collections, so that they will have more of an impact overall. Vintage hand painted floral plates hung around a pair of gold framed botanical prints, with a a just-so placed upholstered chair beneath create a cozy reading spot in the Brown's master bedroom.
