Roman Candle: the beginning of a beautiful career

Date of Review:  Nov 3, 2002
The Bottom Line: debut album that launched Mr. Smith on the path from unhappy semi rock-star to Academy Award nominee. Not sure that's so great, but the album sure is.
Review: Thank God for Elliott Smith's girlfriend back in the mid-90s, whomever or wherever she may be. You see, while little ol' Elliott was toiling around miserably in a semi-successful local rock band that he no longer really wanted to be in (Heatmiser),...

His Head Is Full of Flames

Date of Review:  Jun 22, 2007
The Bottom Line: Elliott Smith was a true visionary and to get a large glimpse into his psyche, I'd suggest giving Roman Candle a good listen.
Review: One hidden gem of a man is known as Elliott Smith; a masterful creator of songs with purpose and a bit of a revealing nature on his own behalf. While his career (and life for that matter) was cut a bit short due to his tragic suicide, his music...

A Fond Hello To A Friend

Date of Review:  Feb 8, 2005
The Bottom Line: Try this on for size.
Review: Yeah, so for reasons including impressing a girl, and some very favorable reviews here on Epinions, I started listening to Elliott Smith. This is the last album I got into, but his first chronologically.

Smith played for a band called...

Make him feel this pretty burn

Date of Review:  Jan 3, 2008
The Bottom Line: A must for fan's of stripped down singer/songwriters, however his self-titled album is better yet.
Review: This could get awfully discursive, but Elliott Smith's death never rang as a huge tragedy in my heart. Before the raging torrent of email pours in, let me explain.

I've heard all of Smith's albums. I even read the book about him, Elliott...
