Author's Review
Anyone with an itch to be a rockstar can live out their dreams through this well built game. The bundle for the PS2 is well worth the price, and the wait, if you can't find it in stores just now.
The gameplay serves up to four players at a time, each doing a piece of the band. Guitar, bass, drums, and vocals.
Nearly everyone already knows how the guitar and bass work due to the overwhelming success of the Guitar Hero series. And true hardcore fans will notice a slightly less difficult time with the Rock Band's version of guitar, but that does not mean there is no challenge. The vocals are just like a karaoke game, you have to hit the words at the right times, and also at the right pitch.
The real standout instrument, however, is the drumset. It is quite possible the most fun instrument to play, due to it's realistic style, if you can throw out a jam on expert, chances are, you can play a pretty good drum beat on a real set.
As with other music styled games, most of the fun comes with playing with other people, and this game is no different. Gather a few friends, make a band, and go on tour, you won't be disappointed. The only thing lacking is some depth in the Band World Tour mode, where the Xbox 360 and PS3 version have a bit more to offer.
The song selection is very diverse, with many bands and famous tunes to rock to, including the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Queens of the Stone Age, and The Strokes, just to name a few. Any rocker will immediately fall in love with the track selection.
All in all, this game is a great one to pick up for people that want a true music experience with a variety of songs to play, and multiple ways to enjoy it.
