Author's Review

Robotech is a pioneer series in the world of anime and especially robot anime. It is considered by many to be one of the best anime series ever. With it's original run in the 80's (sometimes they still show it) this show achieved great popularity. How do you make a game to live up to standards like these? Well, TDK did and actually surpases my expectations. This game has a great story and actually
follows the series very loosely.I'm not going to ruin the story with details but I'll give a brief summary. You are a young man living on Macross Island when the SDF-1 or super dimensional fortress crashes onto the island. A city eventually builds around the sdf-1. However, an alien race called the zentraedi want their ship back and will stop at no cost to get it. This is where you come in. You are one of several veritech pilots that is to protect macross island and earth. The game actually plays out like episodes of the series. The graphics are also superb.they are cell shaded and fit into the whole cartoon kind of theme. However, just because these graphics are cartoon themed don't mistake this for child like because they are very mature and showcase the fights that you encounter very well. Also, there is a surprisingly high amount of detail in these graphics. The sound is almost to die for.
The sound effects sound like they were taken right out of the show and the voice acting is top notch. It actually sounds like an episode of the series. Every sound fits in perfectly and doesn't seem out of place. The controls and gameplay are also very good. the control system is very tight and reactive and is pretty close to perfect except for turning. for some reason the developers just couldn't get the turning right. you either under turn or over turn.
Could be improved on. The gameplay is great. There are ALOT of missions that are fun but have one flaw;they get repetitive and lack originality sometimes. however, this only detracts lightly from the game. Overall, I say this is a good game that either fans of the series should get and if you are just looking for a fun simple shooting game
that won't cost you more than $20. however, I really wouldn't pay more than $25 maximum for this game. It's fun,
but not worth more than $20-25.
