A Handy Appliance to Own
Pros:
Heats quickly, holds lots of water, and more convenient than heating via a pan.
Cons:
No off/on switch, gets too hot sometimes.
The Bottom Line:
I would recommend this electric kettle if you plan on making hot drinks, or need to heat up water quickly while you are still in the room.

I started using the Rival electric kettle a few months ago because I was an incoming college student, and didn't have a microwave to put in my dorm. At first, I didn't think I would use it because I figured I would just cook using a pot and a stove. However, I realized it would be good for making hot chocolate and tea. I like it because it heats up fairly quickly, and has a dial that you can set the temperature with. The only problem is that if you set it too high and forget about it, it will overheat. However, I usually put it on a medium setting if I will be away for a few minutes. Otherwise, I turn it on high and unplug it as soon as it gets as hot as I want it to. The main complaint I have about this kettle is that there is no off or on switch. To turn it on, you plug it in; to turn it off, you unplug it. This can be inconvenient, and the cord is only three feet long, so you cannot just sit it somewhere and turn it on if you need it. Also, the steam that comes out can be very hot, but like with any appliances involving heat, it is important to be careful. However, I have used it quite frequently to pour into my cup of noodles and to make hot drinks. I do not regret getting it!
