DON'T BUY - VERY EXPENSIVE
Date of Review: Mar 1, 2008
The Bottom Line: Overall, quality, expense, and use are poor. If you just want to throw money away, then buy it. Hope this review saves you time and money
Purchased Ricoh SP c120sf in 11/06, since that time have replaced the colors each once and the black toner twice. I have 12,878 total pages printed. It is now requiring the OPC belt to be replaced - this belt is supposed to last for 60,000 pages. the cost of the cartridges for the ink is not cheap and the cost of the OPC belt is around $400.00. The machine takes a long time to warm up - approximately 45 seconds, it is extremely noisy - sounds as if someone is banging with a hammer- or the machine is falling apart. If printing from a computer, the prints and colors are really good. However, if a color copy is made, the colors in the copy are very dull and faded. I have called the service company on the copy quality and also the noise and they informed me that is the best it can produce, and the noise "is not that bad". The waste toner pack is another feature that is not very affordable. This bottle requires replacing approximately every 5-6,000 pages. And of course, when you fill this bottle (approximately 1 pint) in such a short time, you are able to see why the toner cartridges need to be replaced so often. About the only good thing about the SP C120sf is the legal copy tray added. Several forms that I use require the legal paper, the tray works good from the printer, however, in attempting to make a copy of 81/2 by 11, it will print on legal paper. When making any copy, you have to change the drawer to the type of paper needed. When thinking about the cost of the machine ($1,300.00) and the cost to replace the cartridges so often, and now the OPC belt - this machine is definitely not worth the money.
