Author's Review
Being a regular razor shaver for most of my life, I had to stop shaving because the only shave cream I ever used and liked, went out of production.
So one day about a year ago I went shopping for something else, and decided on the DA-307 shaver by Remington. I plugged it in to charge the battery for the following morning's first use.
I read in the instructions that it may take a few days for your skin to become accustomed to an electric shaver, so I picked up a small bottle of electric shaver skin conditioner and tried it out. Now, many years ago when I was in the Persian Gulf, I used a different battery operated shaver but did not like the experience, but this new shaver convinced me right away that electric shaving was the way to go.
Performance - I enjoyed the way the foil moved along with the contour of my skin, and the closeness of the shave. The foil design is doubled, so that on the first pass, if any hair is missed, the second pass picks up on it. An average shave only takes about three minutes with this shaver. Compare that to regular shaving, which took a bit longer and often resulted in some bleeding. With this new shaver, I have never bled once. Further, the battery life, if charged overnight, will last an entire week! Truly outstanding performance, and a close shave to boot.
THREE Tools in One? - The small trimmer on the back end of the shaver provides many places to remove excess hair. I have used the trimmer for ear hair, and also excessive underarm hair. I also use the trimmer periodically for those missed hairs I get on occasion - but missed hairs with an electric shaver is very common. But that's not all. This shaver unexpectedly also makes for a great alarm clock! Like most electric shavers, it makes a buzzing sound. It wakes up my wife. Once I begin shaving, she wakes up. Although she might not like the sound, I am getting THREE bargain devices in one, even though the Remington company may have never assumed this third wonderful advantage - waking up the wife!
Overall Advantages - When comparing an electric shaver to regular shaving, I no longer have to purchase razors nor any more shaving cream. My last straw in attempting to use a different shaving cream came from a product brand name called Edge that came in a tube. It was very runny and messy, and dripped all over my chest while shaving. That was the straw that broke the camel's back for me, and this is the primary reason why I decided to switch to electric. Far less operating costs. I bet I must have easily spent well over $100 each year in shave cream and disposable blades alone!
Bonus Note - Remington recommends changing out the foil once every six months and the blade once per year. I will admit that I have still yet to change out the foil because it is still in outstanding condition - after 10 months! I will, however, change the blade in two months, at which time I will probably also change out the foil.
Overall, the Remington Microscreen DA-307 shaver is the best decision I have made when it comes to personal grooming. I believe I paid around $30, maybe $40 for it at Wal-Mart. No more regular blade/shaving cream shaving for me, thanks to this wonderful product!
