Product Review

You might want to consider something else

by   itsmetalkin ,   Oct 27, 2004

Pros:  Close shave, good design, built-in trimmer

Cons:  VERY short battery life, trimmer breaks easily, expensive to upkeep

The Bottom Line:  Good shave, but many other razors are much better choices for the money. Bottom Line: Keep looking.

Overall Rating: 2/5 stars

Author's Review

I've had my shaver for about 2.5 years now. The shaver comes with a 2 year warranty and wouldn't you know it - just over that warranty the thing quit working.

The shaver does give a very nice, close shave but it certainly lacks battery life and should be considered a disposable shaver. Consider that the blades cost $25-$28 per pack and dull within a couple of months to the point they need to be replaced (even when using a cleaning/lube spray on them). What really gets me is that the battery life is junk. Even when using proper recharging techniques the battery starts to need to be recharged after each shave within months of purchase - eventually (within 2 years of regular use) completely dies out.

The grip is comfortable and like I mentioned, it does give a nice shave. As for the pop-up trimmer, don't expect anything wonderful. It is very flimsy when using (tending to move back and forth as you use it making it hard to control) and has a history of breaking very easily. Mine stopped working within 16 months of purchase.

In the end, I spent $75 on this shaver and got about 8 months of strong shaving and then experienced a slow degradation of battery and trimmer performance. From what it costs to repair the unit now (because the trimmer is dead) and replace batteries (even if I do it myself - which those brainiacs at Remington could have built better internally, but don't get me started) this shaver isn't worth the price. Check out other models or brands (I suggest staying with rotary heads) and check Epinions before you buy!
