Author's Review
Redbook is my favorite magazine. I have subscribed to it for three years and don't plan to discontinue that subscription any time soon. Having this magazine come in the mail each month has helped me to make some much needed "me" time, which, even with having a 2-year-old I seem to manage each month.
Okay, so there are a lot of ads in Redbook. I know to some, that takes away from the rest of the content, however I actually enjoy many of the ads. I like to see what company's have to say about their latest products and enjoy seeing the latest lipstick and nail polish shades. There's usually a few coupons for these items, too - which I try to put to good use. *smile*
Redbook does seems to print some one sided articles, but in their defense I will say that they usually get around to covering both sides - 'though I think it would be better for them if they did it in the same issue. At least they seem to keep with the thought that no matter what they're talking about nothing will work for, or be right for 100% of their readers.
I do love this magazine, but I will say that in each issue there's usually one or even two articles which may be of little or no interest to me at this time; but I think that is why Redbook appeals to so many different women in the world. Whether you're a mom, wife, single woman; whether you're a homemaker, career woman, collage student, or in your 20's, 30's or 40's - I feel Redbook has something to offer you.
Each month they do a cover story on a celebrity - which is usually very interesting and tells you things about that person you didn't know. There's also several other monthly sections for things such as safety tips, general health, women's health issues, parenting and marriage articles, recipes and more. And, lately, they've been having lots of free give aways for things like vacations, hair products, make up, perfume and more.
While there are some "fluff" articles, most are interesting, entertaining and quite enjoyable to read. I look forward to getting Redbook in the mail each month, and appreciate how it keeps me - a 20 something, work at home mom, "in touch" with fashion and the outside world.
