Product Review

They Just Keeping Getting Better & Better

by   sarahfina88 ,   May 17, 2001

Pros:  Matured sound, lyrical growth, amazing introspection, more upbeat numbers while retaining their trademark sound

Cons:  The album didn't come out sooner

The Bottom Line:  A musical journey through a wide range of emotions but still a thrilling and worthwhile ride.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

After the first Counting Crows album, it seemed like an eternity for their second CD, Recovering the Satellites. The wait was well worth it because while Adam Duritz was fighting his demons (from what I've read) he gained some incredibly moving and personal materials. Listening to this CD is like taking a journey through Adam's mind and soul, you feel what he feels and hurt when he hurts.

From the minute I popped in this CD, the music swept me away as I have never been effected before by any other song. It wasn't long before I realized that I was holding my breath as I listened intently in amazement. Songs like Catapult and Have You Seen Me Lately are more upbeat while songs like Goodnight Elisabeth are the more traditional Counting Crows slow sad song. I was never disappointed with a track on this CD, a rare occurrence with my CD collection.
