My Eclipse is fading!!!
Pros:
V-6, purchase price compared to Toyota or Honda
Cons:
quality, lousy paint, cheap plastics

The V-6 is nice, but the build quality is like a Kia.

I have had 5 Mitsubishi cars and can attest to their usual reliability. Each one has been dependable and relatively free of unexpected maintenance or repair costs.I have an Eclipse GT that apparently was never intended to be driven in Florida. My Eclipse, however, has 3 big cracks in the dashboard and my clearcoat is turning white on my formerly, all black car. My paint looks absolutely horrible, sort of like an 80s Chrysler. My dashboard has spontaneously cracked in three places and because of these big cosmetic defects, my car isn't worth half of what I still owe on it. As a long-time Mitsubishi customer, I thought I might get some satisfaction when I spoke to customer service. So far, nothing! I was concerned that the paint wasn't of the quality of my Honda, but I was used to expecting a little less of Mitsubishi. But, I'd say this Eclipse may cause a total Eclipse of my loyalty to Mitsubishi. Oh, yeah. I forgot to mention the incredible expense of getting the plugs changed. The mechanic has to take off the intake manifold to change the back plugs. At least they were platinum and so, they don't have to be changed as often.
Overall, I think I have owned my last Mitsubishi. Too bad, since the Eclipse is a head turner.
