Pros:  Small foot / deck print great screen visibility in any light.

Cons:  Tough to figure out without the book.

Author's Review

I recently purchased a C80 model from West Marine. One needs to realize that the price for the unit does NOT include may needed items. You will need to purchase a Radar antenna mount which can run several hundred dollars. Furthermore navigational chart software which comes on a Compact Flash card is around $200 for a larger chunk of the waterways.

The unit itself is not entirely intuitive in its use. I really like gadgets that have good user interfaces that allow one to learn the product without cracking the book as it were. This is NOT one of those units. It took me a few tries with the book to get the unit to just display some of the items I wanted to see and I am still not done.

Finally, I strongly recommend that you have the unit installed by a RayMarine dealer. I may be having a warranty problem right now and reading the warranty's fine print, I have discovered that the dealer was not an authorized installer. $1500.00 of install fees later I still do not have a fully functioning unit. My bad.
