Raiders of the Lost Ark

Raiders of the Lost Ark is the best film of it's kind and contains some of Spielberg's greatest action footage. A simple (but good) tale told with fantastic skill. Take note of the shot right as Indy realizes that something is awry in the Incan cave just before the boulder chases him out. His back is to us. He looks over his shoulder, and the camera swiftly tightens in on his face. Often we don't notice Spielbergs mastery, because it's so natural, and even when we do we think, "Hell, I could do that." But could we? If I had never seen a Spielberg film would I ever think to do a tight zoom like that to convey panic?
The gunfight in the Nepalese bar is also an extraordinary scene. The pace and timing is just unbelievable. If you are one of the few people on this earth who have never seen Raiders, march directly to your local video store and rent it!!!
