Sherwood RX-4105

I was looking for a basic (yet good) stereo receiver/amp without a lot of bells and whistles, and this is the one! Sherwood has long been known in audiophile circles as among the best, and they continue that tradition in this no-frills unit. It does not have 6.1 sound, surround sound, or any other of that nonsense. In my opinion, music is a stereo-only experience (the band is in front of you on stage, right?), so I have never been a fan of surround sound. The unit has four audio inputs (CD, VCR in/out, tape player/recorder, and aux in/out), A and B speaker banks, an excellent (simple) remote, and a simple display. The guts are outstanding, delivering excellent sound, QUIETLY (except for the music!)...Sherwood saved their expenses for the delivery package, not the packaging.

I paid $99, including shipping, from amazon.com. I'd done a fair amount of research and just plain looking and listening. I got it right, as they say. A great unit at a great price for those who are looking for basic audio delivery.
