I love this phone so much I'd like to marry it!

I got a case of phone envy when the fella in my life got a BlackBerry about a year ago. Then I started using the mobile web function on my old Motorola E815 quite a bit -- and started using up large chunks of air time with it. I knew I wanted a browser and email access and when my provider advertised a special offering the BlackBerry Pearl for $99 after rebates and other bonuses, I jumped.
I absolutely love this phone!
I got it in pink, after worrying a bit whether I'd get sick of the color. The alternative was a basic silver color (though other providers offer it in red and amethyst). The finish is quite nice, it's a cool metallic pink that doesn't look too "girly" and is a nice change of pace.
It's a combination of metal and plastic - including a battery cover that is a little less sturdy than I'd like. I don't plan on removing it often but for someone who changes batteries this might be something to consider.
The design is one of the main reasons I was drawn to the Pearl over other smart phones. It is slim and at roughly two by four inches, is similar to the traditional "candy bar" style cell phone.
Sound quality is excellent! Calls sound richer and clearer. This phone also has an mp3 player and you can add up to 8 gigs of memory via a micro SD card, so it will hold a lot of music ... or photos or videos.
The screen is also incredibly sharp and clear. This is important since it is small.
Back to features. The address book holds not only multiple numbers per entry but a wealth of other information, including email addresses, street addresses, birthdays...even anniversaries -- and you can send emails from the address book. There is also a voice dial feature.
The device supports up to nine POP email accounts, so you should have plenty of room. You may also be able to set up your work email on here if your employer has enterprise server software. Emails are forwarded to the device promptly.
The BlackBerry also has a fantastic array of applications, including a calendar, a call log that keeps a history of all calls to and from a given number, a map program that can be used for getting directions, a memo pad for writing quick memos, a voice notes recorder, alarm, video and still cameras (2 megapixel), and assorted other goodies. You can also purchase and download other apps, some of them are even free (I've got a free weather app that gives me the weather right on my home screen!)
Synching with my computer has been a snap...the software has been incredibly reliable so far. I strongly recommend this phone for someone who wants to be a little more organized.
