House Full of Smoke After Malfunction

Normally, I wouldn't bother writing this type of review, but after reading one of the other four reviews regarding their Sharp R-530ES turning chicken nuggets to cinders, I felt compelled to reinforce what happened to them. My wife put a single medium sized potato in the M/W and selected the "Baked Potatoes" button and sat down to watch TV. I can't say exactly what happened, but the next thing I hear is the smoke alarm going off. The potato was literally on fire and smoke filled the entire first floor. I suppose this could happen to any M/W that might assume you have more than one potato baking, but it was very scary to imagine that it may have caused more damage than what it did. Although the unit worked for a while after the incident, it would momentarily send out a flash and a god-awful electrical humming noise. It has since failed to work. The unit was just over 3 years old.
