Quest's solid message needed Garth's guidance

Garth may be blind, but he has common sense, decency and a feel for appropriateness. The story between he and Caley is profound and realistic. The songs by Caley and her mother, by Garth and the duet by Garth and Caley are enriching to the story and gifts to music lovers even set apart from the story.

But the movie became just another animated feature film when the writers chose to inundate us with an overly-zealous villain and a too-vociferous comedy relief team.

Nonetheless, the story of a young daughter of a knight in King Arther's Court is well told, and it is worth sitting through the less inviting aspects of the movie in order to live her tale.

Be forewarned, however, that Rupert the villain, could have made his point better by ending his musical rendition in the house, before coming out and performing his magic on the farm animals and servants. The two-headed dragon started out with a humorous vaudvilian-style song, that quickly deteriorated into silly music...and left us craving for them to show some class with their humor during the rest of the movie. We wanted to like them, and DID by the end of the movie - but felt disappointed that they hadn't developed their entire characters along the well-chosen vaudvilian style.

Again, this is still a movie worth seeing - and the kids definitely "get it" about the dragon's sense of humor. I, as an adult, was just disappointed that the entire movie was not as well thought-out as the story-line about Caley and Garth.
