Author's Review
I purchased and returned several different types and brands of computer speakers before I found the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1. Some of the speakers that I bought and returned included Logitech Z-2300, Logitech Z-5500, Logitech Z-4, Logitech X-540, Altec Lansing VS4221, Bose Companion 3, Bose Companion 5, and Creative I-Trigue 3000. They are all garbage! They all had the same characteristic: Boomy, muddy, and distorted bass. I have to now believe that any good reviews that you see for the above mentioned systems, particularly the Logitech systems, come from people who are either tone deaf or really don't understand what good music reproduction is.
I know good clean sound when I hear it. If you want computer speakers that will reproduce your music the way it was meant to sound, then buy Klipsch ProMedia 2.1. They are excellent for computer gaming also. My son also has the ProMedia 2.1 and loves them. Klipsch has corrected the problem with the Din plug.
Additionally, if you have a good sound card like the Soundblaster Audigy, you have an almost unlimited amount of sound adjustments with the equalizer and other available calibrations. You will be able to tweak and fine tune your sound to exactly how you like it.
These speakers actually sound better then a lot of home theater setups that I have heard (minus the surround.)
