Hopefully You Won't Have To Prey For Dramamine

by   awoolcott , top reviewer in Games at Epinions.com ,  Jul 16, 2006
Pros: 11 years later, it actually exists!
Cons: 11 years later, and it's only 5 hours long!
The Bottom Line: Wanted 1500 words, ended up with 2500. I talk a lot.
Review: In the year 1995, the game industry was very different. Nintendo dominated, Sega was in the midst of their destruction, and Sony was just about to reinvent gaming as we know it. Also in that year, 3D Realms, the team behind Duke Nukem, announced Prey, a ...

I don't believe in all this mystical crap!

by   hist ,  Jan 6, 2007
Pros: Wonderful graphics (with one exception), interesting story (except on thing)
Cons: Graphics of people are bad, and you play a moron!
The Bottom Line: Prey is a good shooter, but not a great one. Too many deficiencies to say it's a classic, but still a lot of fun.
Review: Prey is a game that's been a long time in coming. It's a first-person shooter with Native-American themes (which is a nice touch) that involves an alien sphere hovering over the Earth and kidnapping various humans. I say it's been a long time in ...

Prey - You turn me upside down

by   jkafer ,  Aug 24, 2006
Pros: fun, unique gameplay, engaging puzzles
Cons: multiplayer is terrible
The Bottom Line: A diamond in the rough, this could be the first of a revolutionary new franchise. The shoddy multiplayer clouds this, but players should be able to see the sun.
Review: Prey is a game that was under development for years by the company that made Duke Nukem 3D. Long delayed, the game was finally released for the Xbox 360 and PC. Was it worth the wait? Does it redefine the first-person shooter genre or merely add to the ...

Can't Play Anymore...Getting Dizzy

by   maddogdenny ,  Feb 11, 2007
Pros: Innovative new gameplay, atmosphere, sound.
Cons: Some control quirks, too easy, head spinning...
The Bottom Line: Without much of a multiplayer, and a pretty easy campaign, there's not much replay value, but it is cheap to buy now, so go ahead and buy it.
Review: Let's talk about the Doom III engine. It's been out there for what? All of two years, give or take? Unfortunately, it is already becoming in danger of being obsolete. Prey is a game that could save it. Doom III revolutionized the engine's graphical ...

The first game to almost make me throw up!

by   cobadee ,  Jul 15, 2006
Pros: Unique
Amazing graphics, sound, and gameplay
Cons: Gunfire sound and power could have been better
Too easy.
Makes me really dizzy
The Bottom Line: This is a great game but is put down by the easy difficulty. I think it is worth a purchase, and it does feature multiplayer which I haven't tried yet.
Review: Prey is a game that has been in development for over ten years, and it really shows, because the whole concept, physics, graphics, and gameplay are amazing. Story You are Tommy, a Cherokee Indian who is tired of being on his reservation. He ...

Earth’s Savior doesn’t want the Job!

by   blwessels ,  Aug 31, 2006
Pros: Fun, great story and you never die!
Cons: Because you never die the story feels too easy and quick!
The Bottom Line: Yes, better human graphics and a longer campaign would have made this a top notch game! I had a blast playing and was thoroughly engrossed in the story!
Review: Prey is the story of an American Indian who is not proud of his heritage and wants nothing to do with it. He would love to leave and go out into the world but his girlfriend, Jen, does not feel the same way. The game starts off in the bar that Jen ...

Prey: When you need a true WTF moment

by   JayDukes ,  Apr 24, 2008
Pros: Excellent environmental visuals; easy to play; new take on the genre; great story
Cons: online play isn't great; those used to FPS may find this game repetitive
The Bottom Line: Probably not the first choice when it comes to FPS gaming, but Prey offers a different take on the genre and shouldn't be ignored, especially now with a reduced price.
Review: Here we go again with yet another first-person shooter. In this genre, it seems as if there’s not much further you can go for originality, and nowadays, finding a way to wow gamers has a been a challenge. So what more can a developer do to make their ...

Fun Game But Mainly To Rent

by   loganr426 ,  Aug 15, 2006
Pros: Beautiful graphics, great frame-rate, Memorable music, fun solo play, creative weaponry
Cons: overused gameplay, only 6-8 hrs, messy multiplayer, short and simplistic
The Bottom Line: Those looking for a multiplayer game should look elsewhere. The solo play in Prey is well worth your time. Too bad it's on the short and simplistic side
Review: Prey is a game that has long been in development. Early builds, much different to the game we have today in fact, were around way back in 1998, and over the years the core of the game has changed a lot. One look at Prey nowadays, and you’d be forgiven ...

Prey Xbox 360 Single player cool Multiplayer not cool

by   play2loud ,  Aug 5, 2006
Pros: Awesome portal dynamics and gravity switches that'll make you wanna vomit. Decent single player game
Cons: Bland first person fighting skills. Only two modes for Xbox Live game
The Bottom Line: If the price drops and you're still sitting around still waiting on Gears of War or Splinter Cell Double Agent...pick up Prey
Review: My first impression is great graphics and really cool designs of your enemies. Although there are some things aboard the alien ship that are just right down sick looking. This game has some great portals that take you too different parts of the ship. ...

Like taking a trip through your intestines

by   crystalattice ,  Dec 13, 2007
Pros: Gravity changes and portals add an interesting twist to FPS genre; great graphics engine
Cons: Scatological images; actual gameplay isn't that unique; no fear of dying
The Bottom Line: Literally walking through bowels isn't my idea of a good time and the unique features aren't enough to keep me playing.
Review: I have to be honest. I didn't complete this game. I played the demo in anticipation of buying it but I ended up not being terribly impressed with it. Since this game has been out for a while I won't bore you with the details of it. Suffice to say that ...
