Cinderella Our Time
Date of Review: Mar 13, 2001
The Bottom Line: Just a great movie that proves that money isn't everything and love is.
Cinderella, 20th century style. "Pretty Woman" is your all American movie, with your all American actors. Richard Gere and Julia Roberts work so well together, sometimes the acting doesn't even seem to be guided. Their charm and character go so well together, it purely shows why the movie was such a hit.
Julie Roberts who plays a hooker named Vivian, and Richard Gere who plays a multimillionaire name Edward, find themselves needing each other, in different ways. Vivian who is use to the hard life and fast lane. And Edward who is use to people pampering and at his beck and call 24 hrs, learns that there is so much more to life than what they have.
After Edward gets lost on Hollywood Blvd, Miss Vivian runs to his rescue and shows him the way to his hotel. Offering Vivian $300.00 to stay the night with him, Vivian thinks it is going to be the same old music. To her surprise, Edward just wants the company of someone who is real, and not someone who likes him for his money.
Edward who needs a date for a business dinner he has set up. Turns to Vivian and offers her the chance of a lifetime for both Vivian and himself. After the amazing offer he has proposed to Vivian, life as they both know it is going to change forever.
I truly enjoyed this movie until the end. It was funny, heartwarming, and a great movie to watch with someone you love. It is a movie for all ages to watch, and it shows you, that even though this is just a movie, money doesn't always make everything right. That sometimes you have to let go of some of the money to be a happy person, and take a chance whenever given one.
