Author's Review

My name is Shyra2 and I am... A PopcornAholic. However, I can NOT stand movie theater popcorn due to the massive amounts of butter they pack on, which is loaded with calories. I like naturally popped popcorn with no butter and no salt. Yes... I know most people love the butter, but you can pass the butter right by me. PLEASE DO!

I purchased the Presto PopLite Popcorn Popper 4820 a month ago from Target for around $15.00. I had seen this particular hot air popper advertised in a magazine, and decided to give it a try.

This popper has a white base and a clear yellow cover that you can see through. A cup is located on top.

The cup that covers the opening of the machine the does three things:

. Measures the amount of popcorn you can make at once
. Keeps the popcorn from flying out-Very Important!
. Melts butter. Put solid butter in the cup and as the heat rises the butter will melt.

There is no on/off switch. You simply plug-in an unplug to start and turn off the popper. The popper uses 120 Volts AC, 1440 Watts and can pop up 18 cups of corn in less than 3 minutes.

Cleaning the popper is very simple. All you have to do is remove the lid and shake out any remaining kernels. Rinse out area used for butter if it was used for melting. Any butter that has dripped on the machine can be cleaned with a damp dish cloth.

The Presto PopLite Popcorn Popper 4820 is great for anyone who loves popcorn. It would make a excellent gift for a family who has small children because popcorn is one of the healthiest snacks around. This machine is easy to use and I can not think of one con.

Some little facts - Did you know?

* Popcorn has:
. more protein than any other cereal grain;
. more iron than eggs, peanuts, spinach or roast beef;
. more phosphorous and fiber than potato chips, ice cream cones or pretzels.

* Popcorn is grown in both yellow and white varieties. Yellow popcorn pops up crunchy, big kernels with a kinda nutty taste. White pop corn has a crispy, tender texture and a slightly-sweet flavor.

* The first popcorn "machine" was invented by Charlie Cretors in 1885, mainly used for store fronts and movie theaters. Home poppers were first introduced around 1925 and a started to be built in Junior High shop classes.
In 1945, Percy Spencer discovered that when popcorn was placed under microwave energy, it popped. Oh, what a concept!

* Low in both calories and fat, popcorn is literally "light". One gallon of unbuttered popcorn weighs only 3 1/2 ounces - carrying only 390 calories.
