It Shoots Popcorn Across The Kitchen!
Date of Review: Dec 7, 2000
I bought this thing a while ago and I've used it a lot. It's a quick easy way to make popcorn without having to add oil, and without the messy clean up. There is one downfall. The thing tends to shoot popcorn across the kitchen. I'll have a bowl in place to catch the flying kernels, but there's always a few renegades that try to escape. It's not like a snow storm in the kitchen, it's very minor.
The clean up is so easy. All you need is a broom and dust pan to pick up the strays,,, oh,, and the machine is easy too. All you really need to do is wipe the popcorn crumbs off and the things ready to put away.
The cool thing about this machine is that in cold weather it also warms up the kitchen. It sort of reminds me of a hair dryer the way it blows hot air. I'll have to try popping corn with a hair dryer sometime to see if it works. The popcorn blows around inside the machine and when it gets the kernels heated they begin to pop and then they bow out into the bowl.
The popper comes with instruction, a little measuring cup that has to be on the top at all times when popping or the popcorn flys out There's like a popcorn hole there to put the kernels in so you don't have to remove the deflector to add popcorn. The machine is so easy to use even the kids can use it. The unit blows out some really hot air so you'll still have to supervise. The cup that covers the popcorn hole gets VERY hot after popping. The cup is used for melting butter if you want buttered popcorn.
This machine would make a great Christmas gift for the entire family. It's inexpensive, easy to clean and it works great. Just keep a broom handy.
