My GranPappy is the same age as my daughter

Four years ago we received two great additions to our family. The most important one of course is our youngest daughter but the other one has been a great asset to the family also, it's our GranPappy.

No this isn't my real grandfather's they have been gone a long time but this is the deep fryer that has actually taught me how to cook southern fried chicken and actually get it done.

Before getting this deep fryer I have to admit I was the worst person at cooking fried chicken. Being from Kentucky originally you would think it would be a natural born thing, but no I would either get the inside done and burn it on the outside, or if it looked good on the outside it would be all bloody and icky on the inside. I literally refused to cook it so if my husband wanted some fried chicken he had to do the honors. If he didn't want to cook it then good old banquet had to make due.

Well after getting our GranPappy four years ago my troubles were over. Not only did the little pamphlet tell me how long to cook my chicken in the deep fryer(15 minutes) it also gave a great batter to use on it. It also helps to poke some holes in the chicken before deep frying insuring that the inside does get done when it is suppose to. Needless to say my husband has been very pleased since I finally mastered the art of fried chicken.

HOW DO I USE IT?

-Remove plastic cover
-fill unit with cooking oil up to the oil line which is located on the inside of the deep fryer
-attach the cord to the deep fryer and plug cord into a 120 volt wall outlet
-preheat oil for 15 minutes
-gently place 1 to 6 cups of food into the deep fryer using the scoop that comes with it to reduce the risk of splattering
-occasionally stir food around to keep it from sticking to each other
-when it reaches desired browness, lift out and drain with the fryer scoop and place on absorbent paper

HOW DO I CLEAN IT?

I usually just wash the deep fryer with warm water and detergent. I do not place it in the sink because it is not suppose to be immersed in water or cleaned in a dishwasher.

OVERALL

I have never had many problems with my GranPappy. After four years it still heats to the right temperature and cooks great. The only problem I have had is I wish it came with a basket. Sometimes the little scoop can get a little messy when trying to scoop out french fries. Not only have I cooked french fries and chicken in this deep fryer I have also made doughnuts, cooked chicken nuggets, fish, and anything that can be deep fried.

I would recommend this deep fryer to anyone who just has to have that not so good for you fried food once in a while. I don't use this deep fryer everyday but I do use it at least once a week. My husband is a southern man and he truly loves his fried food, lol. I would definitely purchase this deep fryer over again.
