Author's Review
My husband loves French fries, and being well-aware of this, I got him a Presto FryDaddy for Father's Day (with my Hosiery Corp. of America gift certificates) about 10 years ago. He is still using it with excellent results.
It holds a large portion of food, while not being too big to store. I keep it in a wall cabinet beside my range, and I have other things on the shelf with it. It is light-weight, compared to most deep fryers.
Compared to our previous deep fryer, a Tristar Kitchen Classic, the FryDaddy out-performs it in every way.
The Tristar would not get hot enough to fry anything, and it is too big to store conveniently. It's also very heavy. I now keep it on a high "seldom-use" shelf and take it out occasionally for slow cooking, which it will do.
The FryDaddy fries fast, making French fries a quick side dish for hamburgers or whatever. It has a wire basket with a long handle for lifting and submerging the food. This prevents burning your hands, and the basket hooks on the inside, up out of the oil, which helps drain the food.
I haven't found it too difficult to clean. I simply run hot, soapy water in it, swish it a few times, rinse and drain it. Nothing sticks in it, so I don't even have to scrub. It is not immersible, but since it is rather small, it is easy to set right in the sink. The outside of it can get greasy, but a couple of squirts of Fantastic cuts the grease and cleans it right up.
The cord on the FryDaddy is medium length--long enough to reach an outlet while sitting on a counter, but not so long that it gets in your way. It is a heavy-duty cord, which is good, because a smaller one would get too hot.
One word of caution--the hot steam from the fryer can damage your wood cabinets. Pull it out away from the cabinets when you use it.
Enjoy French fries in minutes with a FryDaddy.
