good for some things, awful for others

First of all, I was born in Belgium where french fries are a staple. My mom makes french fries at least twice a week and when I got this as a gift I was very excited cause I could finally make them like my mom did. I read the directions on how to do this and could not get the fries to come out right, besides, I couldn't even make one serving of fries with it. My mom's fryer in europe makes 3 times as much. So, I decided to write it off to my ineptness in frying. I made some buffalo wings with it and beigneits and they were delicious...I was still disappointed with the size of the fryer. Finally my mom came over to visit from Belgium and tried to make fries in them and she has had no luck either, she has gone and tried out the cheap Presto multicooker and that works much better for fries....unfortunately she has to cook them outside cause the smell triggers my asthma. So if anyone knows of a fryer that lets you cook big portions and is great for making fries, I'd love to hear from you...this size is barely enough to wet your apetite...max of 6 buffalo wings at a time! Luckily this was a gift.
