Nice Unit, and Easy to Use

I decided to try the Presto 03510 Waffle Maker when the Waring Professional Waffle Maker broke after two years.

This unit weighs in at 5 Points 12 ounces. It has a much smaller footprint than the Waring Professional, and stores in a much smaller space. We had installed a roll-out drawer in our cabinet because the Waring Professional was so awkward. And we pretty much could only fit the Waring Professional in the drawer. But with the new Presto 03510 Waffle Maker it fits with some room to spare. Due to the fact we installed the drawer, we could not store the unit in the upright mode. Because the drawer does reduce the usable cabinet space by a couple inches. However, we were not too sorry about this development. Because the plastic clamp that secures the unit in the upright position seemed pretty flimsy, and I figure it would break before too long, and we'd have to store the unit prone anyway.

The unit makes one eight inch waffle. It lacks the drip tray of the Waring Professional, and but as yet, we haven't had any problems with dripping. The grooves are deep, and there's a deep indentation around the circumference of the unit which I hope will catch considerable batter before it overflows.

The instructions were clear. Probably too dumbed down for me. Statements like "if you get some overflow, be sure to use less batter for the next waffle." ItDidn't thrill me. did suggest using the first waffle to gauge amount of better to use, and never use more than one cup of batter. Also, "For batters that don't flow when poured onto the waffle grid, use a heat-resistant spatula and spread out the batter evenly to the edges of the grid." I guess some people would use the old rubber spatulas that would melt.

The unit takes a little pre-seasoning, and it does allow use of no-stick cooking spray.

Unlike other reviewers, I didn't have any problem with the timer. It runs on one AAA-Alkaline battery, and it's simply a count down timer with a bell. It works separately from the waffle iron, and one must remember to key the numbers in. The timer won't start up immediately when the waffle batter is poured into the unit.

It heats up when it's plugged in. So, one must remember to unplug the waffle iron when not-in-use.

Comparing the cost to other waffle irons, this one comes in quite reasonable, and also comes with a One Year Limited Warranty.

The power cord was too short.
