Creates the magic with much more detail...

I regret reading this book only after I had seen the movie, but I do not regret reading this book, or seeing the movie. Alice Hoffman did a great job in creating the magical story this novel tells. The book tells more than the movie did. It introduces and explains the characters with greater detail. The story of Sally and Gillian Owens, orphaned children who were raised by their two elderly aunts. No Owens' women had ever been successful with relationships since their ancestor Maria Owens had cast a spell against it so long ago. But Sally didn't believe in magic and witchcraft, in fact she shunned it. She met a man and fell in love with him, but something tragic happened, like Sally knew it would, and she could do nothing about it. This book resolves the problem the Owens omen have had for hundreds of years. This book teaches you great life lessions. Definitely a MUST READ! Just writing this review makes me want to read the book again.
