Author's Review
This is my first digital camera and I was amazed at what it can do!! The size is perfect and can easily fit in your shirt pocket without you realizing that it is there. I really like the larger screen of this model and I am slowly learning all of the functions that it is capable of. I have had no problem with the battery so far and it even survived two long vacations to Mexico City and Austin, TX when I took hundreds of shots and the battery showed no signs of needing recharging. As long as I turned the camera off after I got my shot, the battery's life seemed to increase tenfold.
I really enjoy the movie mode on the camera and I have been praised by others for taking amazingly clear pictures. It's not me, it is the clarity of the digital camera. As for the red eye, there is some, but no more than most other cameras I have seen. Surprisingly, it has never given me red eye, and I can't say that I have taken a handful of pictures in my life when I didn't have red eye. Lastly, the flash is pretty bright, as long as you are taking pictures of things that are within a 4-10 ft range. Anything more than that and you will get dark pictures. In many of the museums I traveled to, I found that without the flash, I got brighter pictures than with the flash. My only complaint would be that sometimes because of the small size of the camera, I had to make sure I held the camera steady in order to prevent the images that I took from being fuzzy and blurred.
To sum this up, I would say that the Canon SD200 is a great camera for me, a first time digital camera owner. It is easy to use, has just enough cool functions for me to learn, is extremely portable, and has a great zoom function. Maybe i don't know many "specs" or comparisons to other cameras, but I have yet to have troubles with this little camera.
