Here's a Magazine for You

Popular Science is a monthly science update I eagerly look forward to. Inside, you'll find the newest advances in consumer and industrial technology, but also large quantities of ads, though some are worth reading.

The "What's New" section highlights brand new products or innovations ranging from a DVD-quality TV, to a Bat that dampens the vibration from hitting a baseball, to "Aibo", the robotic dog from Sony.

The next section, "Newsfronts" goes more in depth with their topics. A typical column might be an analyzation of Tapeless TV recorders, comparing different pros and cons of brands, OR a column informing readers of the newest markup language "XML" which codes and describes the contents of web pages to make them easier and faster for search engines to find.

Right after that(but maybe interrupted by a couple pages of ads), are the main articles that are mentioned on the cover page. There are usually 5-7 articles, each 2-4 pages long. Some feature articles are "Plasma Propulsion" which compares different, possible future propulsion systems that could greatly lower the price-per-pound of a rocket's payload. You're sure to find at least 2 or 3 very interesting articles in this section.

Last, but not least(I'm sorry for the cliche), is the "FYI" section which contains readers' questions, and Popular Science's answers. These are usually very reasonable, intelligent questions, like "why does salt melt ice", and the answer is given straight-forward, albeit in a slightly technical way.

If you're someone who enjoys science, especially electronics and gadgets, then you should really consider getting a subscription to Popular Science($11.97/12 issues).
