Author's Review
I bought my 2002 Grand Prix new from the dealer and have put about 70,000 miles on it (yes, I drive a lot!). It is basically a reliable car with comfortable seating for five.
This is a great car for long trips. The dashboard lights (red/orange glow instead of green) are easy on the eyes. The trunk is very spacious with a fold down area in the backseat leading into the trunk area which will allow you to transport items as long as 6'.
Two problems with my car, both covered by the extended warranty I purchased for about $350 when I bought the car. (1) On cold/icy mornings, the windshield wipers would freeze in place when I tried to turn them off. This occurred three twice and each time it required a trip to the dealer to repair. The wipers would freeze on the windshield and each repair required a replacement of the wiper motor. (2) This was a far more serious problem. The car began leaking a large amount of oil and despite a check by the dealer who found nothing wrong, the problem persisted. Finally, a very thorough inspection by the dealer revealed a "blown gasket" and the $1,100 repair was, thankfully, covered by my extended warranty.
