Product Review

2000 Bonneville is good at everything

by   mrwsm ,   Sep 8, 2005

Pros:  Looks, comfort, mileage.

Cons:  None.

The Bottom Line:  I think people would be better off driving a 2000 or newer Bonneville and get 34 MPG on long trips rather than some of those tiny ugly cars.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

I have enjoyed this car, it is quiet and smooth and looks great parked next to any other car. I get an average of 28 MPG which is great for this size of a car. When I go for long trips with 5 large adults I get 34 MPG. Lots of small cars barely get this MPG, so why sacrifice in a small car when I can get this high of MPG in a full size car. I use 5w30 Mobil 1 Synthetic oil and keep my tires at 40 PSI. Maximum tire pressure is 44 PSI, the recommended pressure is much lower but I feel the car drives better with 40 PSI. So far I have 130,000 miles on this car and have not done anything to it besides maintenance. My last 2 pontiacs both went over 300,000 miles before I sold them so my guess is that I can do the same with this car, but time will tell. I like the fact that this car has a metal radiator a cast iron block and cast iron heads. Insurance rates on 2000 Bonnevilles are just about as cheap as insurance gets. Probably because they are a pretty safe car with traction control anti lock brakes and air bags in the front and sides. Anyway I'm going to get my mother into one of these cars, she currently has a 2002 Hyundai Sonata and it is a terrible car. I would suggest to anyone to buy a Bonneville whether new or used, or any GM car for that matter. Wish GM would continue the brand in 2006.
