It's Geeky, It's Hot.. It's a Bonneville!

by   foofish ,  Mar 1, 2005
Pros: Common sense design to keep your eyes on the road.
Cons: It's hard to find one that's not on fire.
The Bottom Line: Not a car with a reputation for being reliable, fast, or sexy, but in my experience, it exceeds all of those standards.
Review: Last August, my boyfriend and I needed a car. Our Camry was on it's last legs, and we wanted something as plush as it was. We wanted power everything, cruise control, and a sunroof. Oh, and it had to be reliable, too. We looked and looked and ...

Lazy Mans Car

by   kapyoumans ,  Aug 10, 2000
Pros: LOTS of room, safety features
Cons: expensive gas prices
Review: The reason we bought our Bonneville was because my husband got a new job in which he would need the only car we owned because he would do a lot of driving. We looked around at different dealers but I knew from day 1 that I wanted a Bonneville. My...

1996 Bonneville SSEi

by   julkel ,  Nov 4, 2000
Pros: size, power, style
Cons: none
Review: Having been a Pontiac fan ever since my father brought home our first new Pontiac, a '69 Catalina, I have dreamed of owning a Bonneville SSEi since they first were introduced. The Bonneville SSEi was the size of car that I wanted and the power that I...

SSEi: More Power

by   TimothyTaylor ,  Jun 23, 2000
Pros: Has power
Cons: Needs more power
Review: I just got one, and it has a factory blower, argh, argh, argh!

240 supercharged horsepower under that hood! More gadgets and gizmos than an F15! argh!

Dual power leather seats with like 18 switches to control them. A power moonroof....

dream ride

by   smurf422 ,  Dec 21, 1999
Pros: safety features, luxury, reliability
Cons: purchase price, repair cost
Review: After 30 years of marriage my husband finally decided to let me choose my own car. After several months of looking, I came across a 96 Bonneville SSE. Needless to say, after test driving the car I knew it was for me. I have have it for three years and...

Great car for the money!

by   m173 ,  Apr 6, 2002
Pros: Very quick, decent handling, roomy, great "road trip" car!
Cons: Quirky power seat controls, expensive repairs, complicated climate control.
The Bottom Line: Great alternative to boring sedans like Accord, Camry, Taurus, etc., but watch reliability. Fun to drive, especially SSEi with supercharged 240hp V6!
Review: The best thing about the 1996 Pontiac Bonneville is the amount of car you can get for your money. For a little over 11 grand, I got a Bonneville SSEi with just about every option you can imagine...supercharged 240hp V6, 4 spd automatic, power sunroof,...

Long body, easy to drive, roomy inside

by   icemaiden02 ,  Jun 30, 2005
Pros: smooth ride, roomy interior, low maintenance, good gas mileage
Cons: controls awkwardly located, leather seats hot in summer, not good for winter
The Bottom Line: Great family car, roomy interior, minor inconveniences with location of compartments and controls
Review: BACKGROUND: I bought this 1996 Pontiac Bonneville car used from my mother-in-law in May 2005 with 50,000 miles on it. It was the car I learnt how to drive in, and also took my driving test in, so I'm very comfortable with it and may bias my opinion. ...

Finally -- More Power and toys!!

by   igor_iii ,  Jan 6, 2003
Pros: Quick, sharp and full of toys
Cons: Expensive upkeep and repairs
The Bottom Line: Overall, this is my dream sedan. It has everything I want and does most everything I want it to do. Next up, the 300hp Bonneville GXP concept car...
Review: For anyone that has read my review on my 1992 Bonneville SE, you may remember that my main complaint about that car was that it was too slow. Otherwise, I loved it. That car had 185 horse-power. This one has 240. A very noticeable improvement....

The good, the bad, and the ugly

by   deidominus ,  Feb 25, 2003
Pros: Looks, handling, power, ride
Cons: Craftsmanship, quality, trunk design
The Bottom Line: If your expectations are low, this car is fine. Otherwise, avoid it.
Review: I bought this Bonneville used in 1997 with 20k miles. For the first 4 years this was a dream car. I should have sold it in '01. The durability of the interior trim is poor. The speaker grills have fallen off, as have the coverplates for most interior...
