Product Review

They just don't make 'em like they used to!

by   photojennik1 ,   Aug 26, 2001

Pros:  Attractive body style, good gas mileage, very reliable

Cons:  Only that there aren't more

The Bottom Line:  The most dependable car I have found yet. Sturdy design and safe in collision. Offers peace of mind. Pontiac made a winner here!!

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Author's Review

I have wanted this car since I first saw it as a new model. After driving for a year, I was thrilled when I came across this maroon exterior/gray interior '87 Grand AM. This has been my car for the past 7 years and having contributed 125,000 of the 204,000 miles on the car, I think I have a good perspective on this vehicle. My Pontiac has been very good to me. It has not required much more than routine maintenance - oil change, tune up, brakes, tires, trans service. I've calculated that it has cost me an average of $80 per month including purchase price and routine maintenance. Unfortunately, it has been struck a few times, but after repaired, you'd never know. The original engine and trans still running strong - even the fuel pump was original until about 2 months ago! The body and interior are clean with little flaw. Just goes to show what can be done when a vehicle is well cared for.
