Author's Review
A sales representative actually gave us this Polaroid 600, as we never seemed to have one at our store when the rep wanted to have pictures in our ads to take back to the newspaper he is a representative for. I think that is very sweet, and I am delighted to have one that is for business. We have many Polaroids in the home, almost all of them are less bulky than this one, but, this one does take a great picture, up close or from a distance. That's what counts, when I need a picture of certain items we are featuring in our ads, it comes through like a champ!
I think my husband and I had one of the first Polaroids that were out. In 1965, my husband bought one at KMart, and we had lots of fun with it. Polaroid has become much easier to work with since that time! This Polaroid 600 has a handle on it, and I am glad about that, as it is not one of those nice flat kind that you just slip into your purse or pocket. It does have an automatic flash, and just to try it out, my husband took a snapshot of me. Was I ever surprised to see that even I liked the picture! It was so clear and the colors were true. The picture was taken not more than 2 feet from me, and there was no smeared look to it.
I know that having a Polaroid camera is out of date for most of you. The newer cameras that even come on cell phones are what TODAY'S picture taker usually uses. However, I have 4 of those type cameras, and I haven't learned to use any of them. yet! That should tell you how easily this Polaroid is to manage. It is what I call, 'grandma proof'! I just open the top up, look into the viewer, see my subject, and press the button! No mistakes to be made at all. The camera just slides out my picture I have taken, and it is quickly transformed into a lovely picture! Now, that's for all of us who just have trouble getting a great shot of anything! It won't take a video, I cannot just show you what I took, on the camera, itself, but, I DO have the picture, and it WILL scan and send on my computer!
Naturally, it takes Polaroid 600 film, that can be purchased at sales for less than you might think. Just wait for the sales to show up, and load up on your film. Parties are terrific for this camera. Instant and clear pictures.
We own quite a few polaroids, as people seem to think I must not have any cameras, since I am always buying throw away cameras. I, usually, buy those throw away cameras for trips or parties, and they have always worked well for me. I think the fact that they are smaller and if they get stolen, I haven't lost much, except in the moment I wanted to capture on film. I would not take this camera on a trip. It is too bulky. It is just black, with an oval type dome on the top.
If you are seeking a 'grandma proof' type camera, you should consider this one. I think you just cannot mess up the picture! You have to love that! If you need to have on the spot pictures for ads, it is wonderful to have! It is not the type you would want to carry around a lot. It is not carrier friendly, in my opinion. It IS great, to keep at home for unexpected times that you would want to record on film, though! It is great for our store to have it setting there, all ready for featured items to be photographed and sent off with the sales representative. It is also, great to take a picture of a bedroom group, etc., for a prospective buyer to take home and to show to his/her partner. It is surprising to me, just how many people think this is just a great way to 'explain' the piece of furniture they want to buy to their families. The prospective customer is always amazed when I just take the snapshot and tell them it is theirs. It does help me sell! I love that! Give it a try. You can't ruin the shot!
